Canon Rumors has received some info from an undisclosed source regarding the release of the replacement to the Canon 50D. According to the “source”, CR says that Canon will do away with the xxD naming convention due to confusion with Nikon’s lineup - like the Nikon D60. The rumored name of the replacement is the Canon EOS 7D.
The Canon 7D will purportedly be announced Fall 2009.

Hopefully, the DIGIC 5 will get a grip on the noise issues if Canon is going to continue with the 15.1 megapixel sensor.
